SCALE AND GRADE OF GUNPLA

I think the Scale and Grade is very easy for old people to play Gunpla, but new people play Gunpla so it is hard to know it.  And what Gunpla is for new people. Now we will write about Scale and Grade of Gunpla.

What is the Grade of Gunpla?

Bandai uses Grade of Gunpla for their Gunpla because in the different grades we have a lot of different things like details, number of parts and runner, the level of difficulty... So from this, you can choose what Gunpla is easy for you to play.

Grade of Gunpla  *abbreviation of the grade is the word I write in()

1 High grade ( HG)

The scale of it is usually about 1/144( sometimes we can have the scale of it is 1/100)

The high of it after you build about 12 to 13cm( we can have some Gundam HG are very big and tall like gundam XI and gundam Penelope)

The number of runner about 3 to 8 runners

the level of difficult: normal

The HG gundam was introduced in 1990. You can build one Gundam HG in one, two or three hours. The right amount of parts and it’s very easy for new people to play. In Gundam HG always have HGUC ( high grade Universal Century), HGAC( high grade After Colony), HGBD( high grade Build Divers), HGGO ( high grade Gundam the Origin), HG IBO( high grade Iron Blooded Orphans*),... But a lot of Gundam HG is Gundam HGUC.

*HG IBO can have the (Gundam frame) but it's just a basic form.

2 Real Grade (RG)

The scale of it is usually about 1/144

The height of it after you build it is about 12 to 13cm( we can have some Gundam RG are very big and tall like Gundam Nu, Gundam Hi Nu, Gundam Sazabi).

The number of runner about 9 to 10 runners( maybe, we can have more runners)

the level of difficult: hard

The Real Grade gundam introduced in 2010, one part of gundam's 30th anniversary. The real grade gunpla have the details and the frame like PG( perfect grade) and MG( master grade). Because it has the frame so although same scale as hg but better amplitude of motion. And the RG has a lot of small parts and it is very hard when you stick the decal.

*News ( Next RG Gundam is…..GOD GUNDAM)

3 Master Grade (MG)

The scale of it is usually about 1/100

The height of it after you build it is about 18 to 20cm or more.

The number of runner about 15 to 18 runners

the level of difficult:  hard

If you build Gundam HG, RG, I think the next Gundam you must play is Master Grade. The Gundam Master Grade was introduced in 1995. The scale of Gundam MG(1/100) is bigger than Gundam HG and RG (1/144). Have a nice frame inside with a high range of motion, because of this you can create beautiful action poses. And it is more expensive than HG and RG. And in MG Gundam you can have a lot of different decals.

In 2020, Bandai introduced Gundam MGEX( Gundam Master Grade Extreme), and it started by Gundam Unicorn extremely famous with the psycho frame inside, now in MGEX, the Gundam Unicorn have the led in psycho frame so it very beautiful.

4 Perfect Grade (PG)

The scale of it is usually about 1/100

The height of it after you build it is about 18 to 20cm or more.

The number of runner about 15 to 18 runners

the level of difficult: very hard

Gundam Perfect Grade(PG) introduced in 1998, Perfect Grade is one of the best models of Bandai. The Gundam PG when you finish is very beautiful and very high, and has a lot of details. A lot of Gundam PG can have metal parts, leds, metal decals,... And it has a nice big frame inside, and when you see the frame not have the armor, it is very nice, some Gundam can have led inside the frame. And we don’t have a lot of Gundam PG because new popular Gundam pieces are selected.

 5 Super Deformed (SD)

Don’t have scale

The height of it after you build it is about 8 to 10 cm.

The number of runners: very few runners, about 4 to 6

the level of difficult: easy

The Gundam SD has a small body and big head, because it has a few runners and the parts of Gundam SD are just the right size( don’t have small parts),  so it’s very easy for new people to build. But now Bandai makes Gundam SDCS with the basic frame so you can create more action poses.

THE OTHERS GRADE

1 First Grade(FG)

The Gundam FG has a few colors and details, it was introduced in 1999.

2 Non grade (NG) This Gundam is very old. You must use glue to build the Gundam and it has a few colors.

3 Entry Grade (EG) (Gundam for new people)

When you build Gundam EG, you don’t use glue, don’t use stickers but the Gundam is very beautiful and has a moderate range of motion. The fist Gundam EG we have is RX-78-2 Gundam. And in the future next Gundam EG we will have is GAT-105 Strike Gundam and RX-93v NU Gundam.

4 Reborn-One Hundred (RE/100) This Gundam was introduced in 2014, it doesn’t have the frame and it’s like the Gundam HG with scale 1/100.

5 Mega Size Model This Gundam Mega Size has scale 1/48 but it has details like Gundam HG.

6 Metal Robot Damashii- The Robot Spirits: Metal Robot Damashii is the action Figure of Bandai. It's about the height of HG. One of The Robot Spirits is Metal build, it has the metal parts, very expensive because it has been painted and finished.

7 Hi-resolution model (HIRM):  Inside of the box is the frame and the runner of the armor. These models use metal parts, and look very nice and mechanical. It's one of the premium models.
